Stereotypical image of Japan involves giant Gozillas and robots for many people. Unfortunately you will not see a real Gozilla stomping around Tokyo, but there is actually a place where you can see a real giant robot. That robot isn’t just a robot its Gundam. For those of you who do not know what Gundam is, let me explain on behalf of Japanese manga/anime fans. Gundam first showed its existence 1979 as a serial TV show called Mobile Suit Gundam by animator Yoshiyuki Tomino. Most Gundams are large, bipedal, humanoid-shaped vehicles controlled from cockpits by a hunan pilot. The giant Gundam model is located at Diver City in Odaiba by Tokyo Bay. I suggest you go at night so that you can see the beautiful view of the bay and the ferris wheel. Diver city has amazing shopping, including souvenirs you can only purchase in Odaiba ( they have special Gundam shops!) and amazing restaurants and food courts. In addition, they have a place called “spocha” where you can play indoor/ outdoor sports and karaoke with friends. Great hangout spot! I also stopped by Venus Fort another shopping complex right by Diver City. Venus Fort used to be famous back in the day, not so much anymore but I still enjoyed the beautiful Christmas light illuminations. The interior of the shopping complex totally reminds me of Vegas!
